Many years before I was born, my country was sprayed with over 20,000,000 gallons of herbicides, including the compound known simply as 'Agent Orange'. This particular defoliant contained dioxin, one of the deadliest chemicals known to science.

The results of this pollution have been tragic. Over three million of my people suffer severe physical ailments. Hundreds of thousands are children just like me. We are paralyzed, we have horrific physical deformities, we live in constant pain, and we usually do not live long enough to understand what has happened. We cannot play, we cannot experience youth. We cannot even talk; we can only communicate with the look in our eyes.

We are just little people with very little hope. We do not have much of a life, but we are still alive.

My name is Phat. In January of 2008, American students with the Fund found me ill and on the verge of death. They brought me medical aid, they supported my family, and they brought us hope.
